Where I Stand: Transparency on my values
Why I believe in showing up transparently, holding space for growth, and creating compassionate community—even when it’s risky.
Hi Hi,
You have a lot of choices when it comes to where you spend your time and energy, and I don’t take it lightly that you’ve chosen to spend some of it here with me. It genuinely means a lot.
I’ve walked alongside so many clients navigating what today’s world means for their boundaries and how they take in information. It’s a lot to process, and it takes real intention to figure out what safety looks like and how we show up for each other.
Like many of us, you might be rethinking how you spend your time, who you’re connected to online, and what (or who) you have space for in your life. Out of respect for you and with full transparency, I want to share a bit about where I’m coming from.
Here’s where I stand:
I’m committed to antiracist, intersectional feminist principles. I believe that no human being is “illegal” and that scapegoating immigrants is harmful and wrong. Trans people exist and deserve equal rights, freedoms, and protections. Everyone should have the right to make choices about their own bodies, including whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term. I value both modern medicine and traditional healing practices. I believe that DEI and affirmative action programs are a bare minimum in working toward equity and addressing the generational wealth built on forced labor and stolen land.
I know I don’t always get it right, and I’m committed to growing, learning, and doing better whenever I fall short. There’s always more to learn, but I hope this gives you a sense of what I stand for.
What does this have to do with Flourishing?
My primary goal is to help create spaces where people are seen, heard, and valued—places where being human doesn’t mean being chewed up and spit out. While Flourishing Exvangelical isn’t focused on politics, I know how deeply personal these conversations are and how much they can shape the way we move through the world. I don’t want you to have to guess who I am or wonder whether I’m someone you feel comfortable being in community with.
Why This Matters for Flourishing
My commitment to these values isn’t just about having an opinion—it’s about creating a foundation of safety and trust for those who are healing from the deep wounds of high-control religious systems. For so many of us, reclaiming our voices and identities after leaving those environments means unlearning harmful beliefs about who deserves dignity, autonomy, and respect.
When I speak openly about what I believe, it’s because I know how damaging silence and suppression can be. Flourishing after religious trauma means embracing the complexity of our human experiences and honoring each other’s stories without judgment or fear. My commitment to growth and integrity is rooted in a desire to build compassionate, inclusive spaces where people feel safe to explore, heal, and thrive.
If you’re down, I’m here. Let’s keep building safe, compassionate spaces where we take care of each other. Be well. 💛
